Keeping the details consistent
Structured Lab Results and familiar names: how Cillia makes repeated Lab Value and Medication entries easier to keep consistent over time.
Some details become more useful when you can follow them over time. A number noted after an appointment, a medication recorded again a few weeks later: each entry has its own place in the journal. Together, they form a record you can return to.
But recording the same thing more than once brings a small difficulty. Was it “CA 15-3” last time? Did you use “Tumor marker”, or a slightly different name? When weeks or months separate the entries, those choices are easy to forget. Small differences can make a familiar detail harder to follow.
I wanted Cillia to make that part a little easier, while leaving the words and decisions with the person keeping the journal.
A place for the numbers
Cillia now has structured Lab Results. One dated entry can hold several Lab Values, each with a name, a numeric value, an optional unit and an optional description. All belong to the same Person and the same date and time.
That might be Tumor marker — 83, with no unit, or CA 15-3 — 34 U/mL. The number has a clear place, and there is room for a few words of context when you need them. Cillia records what you enter without medically interpreting it.

Several values, kept with the appointment they belong to. Shown here with example data.
Less to type next time
When you record a Lab Value or Medication again, Cillia can offer the wording you’ve already used for that Person. You can choose it instead of trying to remember exactly how you wrote it last time.
Only the lab or medication name is reused. The new value, unit, dose, description or notes are still yours to enter for this occasion. This makes repeated recording easier without carrying yesterday’s details into today.

Choosing a previous medication saves typing. You can always enter something new.
Consistency, without a rule to follow
These suggestions come only from your own recorded names for the selected Person. Cillia does not consult an external medical dictionary or guess which medical term you meant. It never automatically renames what you have written.
You can always type something new. Sometimes a different name is exactly what you want; sometimes choosing the familiar one is enough to help related entries stay together.
It is a small interaction, built around something ordinary: not having to remember the same detail twice. Over time, that can make the record easier to follow, and leave a little more attention for the day itself.
A single number captures a moment. Recorded consistently over time, those numbers begin to tell a story of their own. That is the foundation I’m building on.
For now, the focus is on accurate, consistent capture. A fuller view of that history is what I’m working towards next.
