Who is responsible
Cillia is developed and operated by Dominik Brack in Switzerland. For questions about this policy or a privacy request, contact hi@cillia.life.
The service providers described below may process information outside Switzerland.
Your journal
Your entries, people, notes and attached photos stay on your device. The current version has no Cillia account, cloud sync or shared journals. Your journal is not uploaded to a Cillia server.
You decide what to record. Please take care with sensitive information and other people’s details. Cillia is a personal journal, not a medical-advice service.
Cillia receives only the photos you select through Apple’s photo picker, not unrestricted access to your photo library. Photos restored from a backup may still contain metadata.
The current app has no advertising, third-party analytics or third-party crash reporting. Apple’s system diagnostics and reports you choose to share through Apple are separate.
Dictation
When you use Dictate Note, Cillia asks for microphone access and uses Apple’s on-device speech recognition to turn your speech into text. Microphone audio is used while dictation is active and isn’t saved as an audio recording. The text you choose to keep becomes part of your journal.
iOS may first download language resources required for speech recognition. If they are unavailable, Cillia does not use a remote transcription service instead. You can change microphone access in iOS Settings. Dictation from the system keyboard is an Apple feature separate from Cillia.
Backups & deletion
You can export and restore a Cillia backup containing journal information and photos. Exports are not encrypted or password-protected, so store them somewhere you trust. Apps or storage providers you choose to save or share them with handle those copies under their own policies.
Device backups may separately contain Cillia app data, depending on your settings. Cillia does not provide its own cloud sync.
Deleting something in Cillia removes it from your active journal, but does not guarantee secure erasure of every local copy. It does not automatically delete copies you previously exported, shared or backed up. Manage those separately where they are stored.
Purchases through Apple
Cillia Unlimited is the optional one-time purchase planned for the App Store release. Apple processes the transaction. Cillia uses Apple’s signed purchase and entitlement information on your device to unlock paid features and restore eligible purchases. Restore Purchases asks Apple to refresh that information.
Cillia does not send transactions to a Cillia purchase server. We do not receive your full payment-card details. Apple handles your account and payment information and may make transaction, sales and diagnostic information available to developers through its services. See Apple’s App Store privacy information.
Visiting this website
This website is delivered using Cloudflare. Serving and protecting the site involves processing technical information about requests, which may include IP addresses, requested URLs, browser and connection information. Read about Cloudflare’s handling of personal information.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand overall website usage and performance. Cloudflare states that this service does not use cookies or local storage to collect usage metrics, or fingerprint individuals for analytics. This measures visits to the website, not the contents of your Cillia journal. Read more about Cloudflare Web Analytics.
Cloudflare also provides network error reporting: supporting browsers may send connection-failure reports to Cloudflare to help diagnose delivery problems. The site uses locally hosted fonts. A first-party cookie remembers the website language for up to one year. It contains only a language code and is not used for analytics or tracking. You can change the language using EN / DE or remove the preference by clearing the site’s cookies.
For tagged campaign links, we also count successful landing-page opens. We store the campaign, date and time rounded to the minute, page language, and broad device and browser categories. We do not store IP addresses, locations, raw browser strings, referrer URLs, visitor identifiers or journal information in these campaign records, and use no analytics cookies or fingerprinting. We honour browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Visit details are removed on a daily schedule after 90 days; daily campaign totals remain. Only the operator can access the report. Repeat opens may count again, and automated-request filtering is imperfect. Cloudflare still processes technical request information to deliver and protect the website as described above.
When you contact us
When you email us, we receive your email address, your message and any attachments you choose to include. We use your message to respond and handle your request. Please share only what is needed, especially when a message concerns someone else.
Please avoid sending journal exports or sensitive screenshots unless they are needed to understand your request.
Your data and privacy questions
You can edit, delete and back up your journal in Cillia. We cannot access that local journal remotely.
